About Houghton
Houghton is Kirkland's most prestigious neighborhood — a quiet, largely residential lakefront community between Downtown Kirkland and the Bellevue border that combines Lake Washington waterfront estates with some of the most desirable hillside properties on the Eastside.
The neighborhood is almost entirely single-family homes on generous lots. Lakefront parcels here carry some of the highest per-square-foot prices anywhere in the Seattle metro area. The character is decidedly understated — Houghton doesn't advertise itself, and its residents prefer it that way.
Inventory is extremely limited and turnover is low. Buyers targeting Houghton should be prepared to move quickly and competitively, and should work with an agent who has relationships in the neighborhood — many of the best properties trade off-market or come to agents before MLS entry.
